John Cates is a partner at Gingras, Cates & Luebke. His practice focuses on personal injury, medical malpractice, bad faith insurance claims, and class action matters. He has extensive litigation experience in personal injury, product liability, medical and legal malpractice, business torts, civil rights, and nursing home abuse and neglect.
He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Association for Justice and served two terms on the Board of Governors for the State Bar of Wisconsin.
John is a frequent lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Law School and for several legal associations. He also volunteers his time assisting with Mock Trials at various local high schools.
John is married with five children. He and his family are very active in outdoor sports and spend much of their free time competing in downhill ski and water ski competitions, as well as local triathlons. He has also coached Little League for five years and is actively involved in the USSA ski racing organization.
